Chucked Out Wednesday

Since Chucks happen to be one of my favourite styles of shoes, why not give em the spotlight? Every Wednesday, I’ll be picking out a cool style for y’all to check out.  Why not start with these:

Known for their bold and vibrant textile prints, Finnish design house Marimekko has partnered with Converse for the first time to debut a women’s specific collection for Spring 2011. For the line, some of Converse’s most iconic silhouettes will be blended with Marimekko’s signature prints. Marimekko Design Manager Noora Niinikoski described the collaboration as something that was “just waiting to happen,” citing the strong heritage and individuality of both companies, as well as their timeless appeal.

Along with the collection, a short film was shot in Helsinki detailing the collaboration between Marimekko and Converse. With backing tracks by Finnish music artists Husky Rescue Ussi Fantasia, the cinematic portrait reveals the story told by the upcoming collection. The film can be viewed below.

Available in women’s sizes 5-11, the Converse x Marimekko Collection will feature models such as the Chuck Taylor All-Star High and Ox, Jack Purcell Helen and a new sneaker called the Chuck Taylor All-Star PJ. They’ll retail between $75-$85 at premium retail outlets and www.converse.com.
